Sensei Paul Bowles is the Chairman, Chief
Instructor, and the driving force behind
the Southern Sport Karate Organisation!
His training in Wado-Ryu sport karate began
in 1991, and by 1997 Sensei Bowles had attained
his 1st Dan Black Belt and opened his first
club near Southampton.
Dedication to training and teaching continued,
while he attained his 2nd Dan Black Belt
in 1999, 3rd Dan Black Belt by 2002 and
4th Dan in 2006. During this time he went
on to open another three clubs across the
southern region.
All of his family are also heavily involved
in the SSKO. His wife, Michelle, is the
Club Secretary, and both of his children
(Eleanor and Lucy) train under him. Sensei
Bowles has high hopes for both of them as
Lucy is showing great potential in her early
Karate career, and Eleanor attained her
1st Dan Black Belt at the age of only ten!
Sensei Bowles' style of teaching means
the SSKO is constantly expanding its students.
His mixture of disciplined training, dedication
to the sport, and humour, has made his classes
incredibly successful with children and
adults alike.
Sensei Bowles stated
"I believe it's very important that
people can train, and work hard in martial
arts with all the discipline that goes along
with it, but in a friendly club environment
that all students can enjoy".
