 |
Kevin began his karate training in 1999 with
an introductory course in traditional karate,
which was being run at his local gym. This gave
Kevin a taster in all aspects of martial arts
training which including kata, kihon and kumite.
When the course finished he was eager to continue
what he had learnt, and so began training under
Sensei Paul Bowles at his local club in Andover.
Kevin trained hard, and enjoyed competing in
regional, and national tournaments, and soon became
a respected senior student within the organisation.
After five years of training he attained his
1st Dan black belt in November 2004. He then dedicated
himself to another two more years of training
to be ready for his 2nd Dan black belt, which
he was successful in achieving in November 2006.
In his spare time he enjoys many other activities
including motorcycling, running, and playing the
bass guitar in a band. Kevin also enjoys traveling,
and has recently been backpacking to India and
Thailand, where in both countries he had the opportunity
to observe their traditional martial arts (Muay
Thai and Kalarippayattu).
Sensei Bowles promoted Kevin to assistant instructor
in December 2006, and he enjoys teaching students
of all ages, including his girl friend Claire
who has recently joined.
